Are you CONSUMED now Caleb?

Earlier this year Caleb ranted about his desire to create products that “Consume you from the inside”, his words..not mine!! YES,  I was horrified at the thought, but as he explained I understood exactly what he meant.

Caleb Said…caleb

  • I want to sell products that people crave.
  • I want to sell products that people “need”.
  • I want to sell products that people “gotta have”.
  • I want to sell products that people tell themselves “I don’t need that”…and still buy it.
  • I want to sell products like the ones on
  • I want to sell products that consume people from the inside until they have them.

My response to this ARE YOU CONSUMED NOW CALEB? It’s safe to say that you are immersed in our process of finding the best way to offer customers almost limitless variations on their product choice AND design options.

Not only that, you even had fun creating the Rice Owl Computer Science Department coffee mugs!! All in all I know that when you get the chance to create your own designs you become consumed and people like you will be consumed too!!

The same is to be said for Narmin and I when we create designs. The Ladybug Collection and The Colorful Trellis Collection are prime examples.  Both collections were created with designs that we personally loved. Within a week of adding them to our sites the orders started flowing in. There’s a picture below of the Colorful Trellis Bedding Set that I specifically designed for my bedroom (and am consumed with), and decided to create products that people like me will  love it too!!

I’ll be waiting for your response Caleb…. Are you CONSUMED now?

Tip #3- Be Positive!

imagesWe have discussed being patient and when to step back and give them some breathing room.  Now for the third tip in potty training, we need to remember to stay positive.  Like any sport,  you  must have a cheering section and so it is with potty training.  Everyone likes to hear that they are doing well and that they have someone singing their praises for what they are doing.  Nothing wrong with that at all.

You do not necessarily have to go out and adorn yourself with a cheer-leading outfit and pom-poms, it can be a simple as having a potty training chart and some stickers.  You issue them a sticker on the potty chart each time that they are successful.  This method helps the child visualize their success as they go.

Other parents use treats as rewards for potty training where others do not care to use food as a reward at all.  There is no wrong way or right way, sometimes kids will pick it up quicker using this method of using treats. You could maybe try an M&M after a successful potty run or a small toy, if you do not want to use food, at the end of the end of the day a reward is a reward.  You can use these suggestions to help you set reachable goals for your child.  (If you do not like the idea of edible treats as rewards, you can also substitute items such as stickers or temporary tattoos.)

Happy DanceAnother wonderful idea to give positive support is the “Potty Dance”.  No special steps to remember, just whatever you come up with.  Singing and dancing for successful potty trips is fun, sometimes goofy and funny, a constant interactive routine for the both of you to partake in and always a positive way to celebrate the child’s successes.  You are the only person that can assist in making potty training a fun experience or a horrible experience for your child.

Bathroom Decor – Customer Submitted Images

We absolutely LOVE when customers take the time to share a picture of their bathrooms once they have decorated with our shower curtains, bath mats, and bathroom accessories. Enjoy the gallery below, you might even get some ideas of your own!!

Be Ready to Back Off- Tip #2

Thanks for coming back for tip #2.  Now that we have begun potty training, we as parents are ecstatic to know that it won’t be long and we will have our child diaper free!  Yeahh!  It is now time for us to find a little freedom and for them to become a little more independent.

Before long, we find that they are actually catching on and are finally going potty.  We are so excited and they go several days without any accidents.  We couldn’t be prouder of them.  Then we wake up one day and find that they have had an accident and they are regressing.  They are fighting going to the potty.  We try to encourage them to go to the potty, only to hear a great big “No!, I don’t want to.”

frustrationIt is now, that we need to step back, take a deep breath and remain calm and patient.  We know that they are able to go potty because they have done it.  The last thing that we want to happen now, is to have to start all over from the very beginning.  Let’s face it, that is exactly what is happening.  We need to back off at this point, stay consistent with them, by continuing to encouraging them to go to the potty.  It is so important not to push them and make them hate going to the potty.  That would do more harm than good for all.

Bright IdeaEventually, they will pick up right from where they left off and all will be well again.  They just need to find the interest on their own and it will be just like riding a bike.  All of a sudden a light bulb will go off in their little ole’ head and it will be like they never did forget.  What we parents go through just to get our children all grown up and potty trained!

On their way out – Personalized Bathroom Accessories

This is apart of my usual “show and tell” of our newest products and designs heading on their way out to happy homes. Our latest best sellers are our bathroom accessory sets. They include a soap/lotion dispenser, toothbrush holder, and tissue box cover.

I took a few minutes to get some shots of the Dino & Dots Bathroom Accessory Set that we shipped out last week. The  original dinosaur print that we use for this design came from our Potty Scotty training pants. They were so popular that we took elements and created  a collection that includes nearly all of our personalized products!!

We also shipped out a Zebra Print & Polka Dots Bathroom Accessory Set. They come from our most popular collection, The Zebra Print Collection. Our customers have shown how much they love it by purchasing this design on double wall tumblers, bedding, rugs, and shower curtains.

One of our creative  customers chose to use our soap/lotion dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and face wash. Look how great they look in in the design from our Moroccan Print Collection.

I don’t want to forget to mention that we have coordinating shower curtains and toilet decals since these customers also purchased them alongside the bathroom accessory sets. Once I have those pics I’ll update the post.

5 Potty Training Tips: Here is #1

Potty Training Tips- There are so many out there.  For the next five weeks, I will be covering a really good tip each week for you to remember while you are potty training.  Potty tip number 1 is a very simple tip but so hard to put into play.

Potty Training- AnticipationBE PATIENT!  Yes, that means us.  There is so much pressure on us, from society, to potty train our children early, while they are still very young  in fact, and to do it quickly (sometimes in one day) that we forget what is important.  We forget to be patient with them while trying to get them potty trained,  because it is we who are tired of buying diapers or pull-ups and yes, we who are so ready to move on to the next stage.  Maybe it is we that are in so much anticipation of success and freedom from diapers, not them!  Hhhmmm!?  Something to think about, right?

No matter how we look at it, no matter how old they are, they will only potty train when and if they are ready.  Ultimately, they control the situation and we need to remember that it is okay.   It is then that we need not to scream and holler, or say things that to our children may sound just mean and hurtful but to let them learn at their own pace.

successIt really is okay.  It usually does not happen overnight, although there are exceptions to every rule.  Some kids will catch on with hardly any help at all but most of them have a mind of their own.  Remember to tell yourself before starting, it may take days, weeks or even months to accomplish what you are about to begin.  In the end, it will happen no matter what the time frame and you and your child will feel relieved.

Buying Guide for Potty Chairs

Are you ready to start potty training but just don’t know where to start?  Most think of potty chairs immediately when they think potty training.  Why are potty chairs important?  It all starts with getting your little one independent.  The adult size toilet seat is big and sometimes scary for a child.  They cannot get off and on independently, the opening is too big so there is the fear of falling in, and it makes loud noises.  Potty chairs are toddler size, bright fun colors, and if there are noises they are very fun and child friendly.  You want your child to be excited about this new adventure and a brand new potty chair for a brand new stepping stone in their life is the way to go.

In picking out the perfect potty chair there are quite a few things you should be looking at.  Who knew that potty training could offer so many different varieties?  It can be overwhelming and the pressure is on to make the right decision because no one wants a collection of potty chairs hanging around.

Infant Potty Chairs

Infant Potty Seats

First, think about the size of the potty chair.  Potty chairs do come in different sizes from infant potty chairs all the way up.  Take the time to find out your child’s height and width and use this as a guide when choosing the right size.  Usually potty chairs have measurements on the box or website you are shopping on.  Look for that.  If you do not see it do not be shy.  Ask!  This is an important part of getting the right chair.

Style of the potty chair is just as important.  The potty chairs have evolved, that’s for sure.  There are wooden ones, riding ones, musical onescharacter, and function, like a multi-function potty chair.

Wooden Potty Chairs

Some will be ruled out automatically because of the size of your child.  But if your child likes to ride the hobby horses, then by all means look at the riding potty chairs.  If your little one will only answer to Disney Cars Characters or Disney Fairies then you know right where to go.  This area is very important because you want your child to be excited and motivated about potty training.  So, music, style, and/or character are very important aspects in picking out the right potty chair.

Wooden Potty Chairs

Potty Chamber Replacement

Last, you want to look at mobility of the potty chair.  Where are you going to be potty training?  In the bathroom, living room?  Are you going to want to move the chair from room to room?  Not only do you want potty training to be easy breezy for your little one but you want some of that for yourself too.  Think about how you are going to empty and clean the chair.  Look at how the potty chamber area in the potty chair is going to be cleaned.   This may play a role in the chair you purchase.

With these three areas covered you are now armed with the knowledge you will need to venture out and shop for that perfect potty chair for your toddler.  We understand just how busy parent’s are so with that in mind we have created an entire section of potty chairs for your one stop potty training shop.

A Step Stool is a Handy Tool!

Wooden Step Stool- Magic GardenEvery household should have a step stool handy for their child to use especially in their bathrooms during Potty Training.  A step stool is a very handy tool and has at least 2 wonderful purposes during this process in a child’s life.  One is to offer the child a helping hand as well as a sense of security and independence.  The second is to help the child with a good health and hygiene regiment.  Let’s take a look at these two a little more closely.

When a child is potty training, the one thing that we are trying to teach them is to be independent.  To be able to go to the potty on their own, pull their training pants up and down by themselves, without needing any or very little help from us at all.  Once they have accomplished this and they are potty trained, it is time to move them on to the adult size potty using the potty reducer to make them feel more secure.  One of the problems with this step is that some of the children find that they can not hop up on the seat without much difficulty or the feeling that they might fall in.  This is when our step stools come in handy.  They can step up to the seat and just sit down all by themselves, with no assistance at all.  The stool also serves another purpose,  it allows the child to place his feet on the top step, not only making them more stable but give them a secure feeling.  When their little legs are just dangling, they tend to swing them side to side or back and forth, therefore creating unbalance and sometimes a feeling that they might just fall into the bowl.

Once they are finished going to the potty, they are taught to wash their hands.  Ooops!  Sometimes we forget that they are still little people and need help.  Some may not be able to reach the sink without a lot of difficulty and therefore would need the convenience of a stool.  With the use of a stool of appropriate height for them, they would again become independent and do things for themselves.

Stools come in many different shapes, sizes and heights.  Most of the one step children stools are around 8 inches high, with the 2-step stools right at 14 inch-total height.  They come in plastic and wood of many colors and some of them even have a place for your child to store things.  Like anything else you must find one that fits the needs of both you and your child.
